In 2024, a developer interested in building approximately 150 homes (a mix of homes for sale and rental apartments) on the 56.13 acres that was the Green Tees Golf course off of North Townline, was not able to obtain a building permit. The opposition from neighbors was fears and the County Planning Commission did not approve the building plans. The developer had already invested much time into the development of the site plans, and it was unfortunate that many additional needed homes did not get built.

Woda Construction Inc. signed a purchase agreement 2 years ago for an 18.73 acre parcel off of Jensen Street that the City of Gaylord owns. They were going to build 100+ homes there that would be for sale.

My name is Jean and I am 23 years old. I have been in Gaylord all my life, and I recently purchased my first house. When I looked at this house it felt like an opportunity that I did not want to miss out on. However, I was only able to buy it because my parents were kind enough to co-sign.

Smaller Homes Approved

Our Impact

The Otsego County Commissioners in 2025 approved that a smaller home is allowed to be built! The minimum square feet for a home went from 720 SF to 560 SF. This allows for more building flexibility as well as a lower building cost. The average cost for a new build is $300 per Square Foot.
